Who’s caring for the carer?

Most of the time, caring for an elderly person doesn’t start as a full-time job. But it can end up like one and often, it falls on the shoulders of one or two family members.

If you know someone who’s caring for an elderly person, they’re probably managing an enormous amount, on top of work, family, and their own life, week after week, with very little support.

You can help lighten their load.

What the carer in your life might actually need

  • Help with their own household – school runs, grocery shopping, a load of washing or two
  • Someone to sit with their person for a while so they can have some time out
  • A low-pressure check in that’s about them, not about how their person is doing
  • The Gather My Crew app! Simple, safe, private. The best way to coordinate useful help the carer actually needs. Setting up a crew is quick and easy so offer to do it for them if they’re too overwhelmed right now

Remember, it’s our community responsibility to care for the people who are caring. Even one or two tasks off someone’s plate can make a big difference.
