There might be a neighbour who needs your help.

We often know more about our neighbours than we realise.

We notice when their car hasn’t moved in a few days. When the bins go out late, or not at all. When the lawn that’s always neat starts getting long. Or a neighbour you used to see regularly hasn’t been spotted in a while.

These can be signs that someone is going through a tough time.

Of course, none of these things automatically mean someone is doing it tough. Sometimes people are just busy or away. This isn’t about making assumptions. It’s about making yourself available. A wave, a knock, a specific offer. So that if someone does need support, they know where to find it. And if they don’t, you’ve just been a good neighbour.

Here’s how to do that well.

  • “I’ll grab your bins while I’m putting mine out tonight.”
  • “I’m heading to the supermarket this afternoon. I’ll grab you some basics like milk, bread and eggs. Text me if there’s anything else you need.”
  • “I’m mowing the lawn this weekend. It makes sense to do your verge while I’m at it.”
  • “I made way too much dinner last night. Can I drop some over?”
  • “I’ve got the kids this weekend. Would yours like to come over for a playdate?”

You don’t need to fix everything. You just need to take one thing off someone’s plate. If 12 people each do one thing, no one person is left doing 12 things on their own. The care is shared. The load is lighter. That’s the power of a crew.

The Gather My Crew app makes it simple for neighbours to come together and organise this kind of practical support. The app removes the need to ask anyone directly for help, it coordinates everything, so nothing gets missed or doubled up, and it makes everything clear so everyone knows exactly how to help.

Neighbourhoods are powerful. Make sure no one on your street has to go through a tough time alone. 💜
