Turn Your Story Into Support for Others
Helping Family and Friends Care with Confidence

Changing the Way People Help - For Good
We are building something new – and we need your help.
Gather My Crew is creating cancer-specific education and guidance for our free HelpTech platform.
These education tools are designed for the people who often want to help but don’t know how – family, friends, neighbours, and community.
With funding from the Department of Health and Aged Care, we’re making it easier for everyday Australians to lean in and provide meaningful, confident care throughout the cancer journey.
We’re looking for people to share their real-life experiences. We’re especially interested in how the people around you – family, friends, neighbours, or others in your community – offered support during your cancer experience, or how you supported someone else:
What did others do that really helped – practically or emotionally?
What actions or behaviours were unhelpful, even if well-intentioned?
Were there moments you wished your support network had more information or clearer guidance
What do you wish your family or friends had known?
How did people communicate with you – and what felt supportive (or not)?
If you supported someone with cancer, what helped you feel more confident in that role?
What advice would you give someone who wants to help, but doesn’t know how?
By sharing your story, you’ll be helping us create real, relatable tools that guide others to offer support that truly makes a difference.
How You Can Help Us
If you’ve been through cancer as a patient, carer, or supportive friend, neighbour or family member, we’d love to hear from you.
You can complete a short online survey at your convenience, or join a focus group in your region (we’ll cover travel costs if needed).
We’re collecting interest through May and June, and will reach out in July 2025 with next steps. Focus groups will run from August to October 2025.
What You Share Matters...
The stories, insights, and experiences you share will directly shape what we create.
We’ll use what we learn to build targeted education and guidance for family and friends – so they feel more confident and prepared to care.
These resources will include clear, practical ideas and suggestions – shared by people like you – and links to existing resources that may be tricky for family and friends to find.
Together, we can help people step in with confidence – so no one has to face cancer alone.
